The life of a Volunteer at the Enrichment Center!
Enrichment Centers are a daily activity center for Seniors and folks with disabilities. All classes/programs are taught/supervised by volunteers!
We have averaged over 100,000 visits annually and Volunteers delivered over 38,000 meals to home bound people annually!
The years have brought about births, high school graduations, college graduations, marriages, anniversary’s, celebrations of birthdays, knee replacements, hip replacements, bone spurs, broken bones, coronary by-passes & stints, blood clots, clogged arteries and strokes, turbo pacemakers & defibrillators, bad thyroids and cataracts and OH YES- CHEATER GLASSES!
But most importantly we cultivated many new friendships!!!!! Our youngest active member is 12 years old & comes to our Camera Club meetings twice a month. Our oldest active member is 102. We come from everywhere & probably have done everything you can think of. Our members have passed through Ellis Island, survived the Holocaust, Pearl Harbor, speak many different languages and possess many different talents. They are retired Military, FBI, Pilots, nurses, doctors, lawyers, accountants, housewives, teachers, builders of many things. One’s claim to fame is that he is involved with the Mofia!!! He tells me- Debbie don’t worry-“ I got cha covered”! We are made up of many different countries, states & offer so many different talents.
